Enable people to pursue STEM projects like building drones, telescopes, DIY machines, etc., right at the Community Center.

The project will spur interest in science, technology, engineering, and math among older elementary schoolers and younger middle schoolers.

Provide sources of advice for students and parents about STEM education paths
3D Printer
3D Printer
We will set up a 3D printer at the Pembroke Community Center (PCC) as a resource for the community in general and students in particular. The 3D printer will give access to a quick and cheap source of structural and mechanical components.
Maker Fair
Maker Fair
We will hold a free maker fair event at the PCC which would consist of several STEM kits/activities over a 2-4 hour period. This will generate interest in STEM in younger students and help broadcast the availability of the 3D printer.

Advice for your Career
Advice for your Career
During the Maker Fair, we will help connect students and their parents with STEM teachers to talk about STEM careers and education. These teachers can provide advice on which classes and extracurriculars (robotics or math club for instance) to prioritize for different colleges and career paths.
Movie Night Fundraiser
Movie Night Fundraiser
We held a movie night fundraiser at the Pembroke Community Center in Room 102 on 3/07/25 at 7pm. We watched October Sky, a story about a group of boys from a coal mining town who start building rockets and win a STEM competition. We sold popcorn, candy, and other refreshments and told about the project.

I am James Conner, senior patrol leader of Troop 105 Pembroke and Eagle Scout candidate leading this project. The reason I chose this project because I have had a lot of good STEM teachers and experiences, and I want to give that back to the kids that are like I was a few years ago.
